Eli and I go swimming every Monday, and last week Trev came and took photos, as he was off work, waiting to see a physio for the ankle he'd rolled over the weekend, which had swollen to twice the size and turned black.Eli loves the water, even though I'm not overly keen on it myself- I really don't like being splashed in the face, and prefer water to be warm (which it is in our lessons), bubbling (sometimes- Eli's shorts fill with air bubbles) and smelling of lavender (STRONG chlorine
on Mondays!!)
This week when we went, we had our last "toddler" class, and were promoted up to "transition", which means we no longer have the aresome Tia, but Donna instead, and we like her too.
BUT, instead of Eli dumping water on my head once each lesson, I now have to swim under lane ropes and get splashed the WHOLE time!! Jenni thinks it's hilarious! The things we do for our kids!
It also means that instead of games and circuits, Eli is learning proper swimming things- the toddlers class was kind of preparing him, now he has to swim to the bottom of the pool and pick up a stick- it's not deep, he can stand up, but still!! Scary for Mummy! He also has to put on a bubble and swim a couple of laps (maybe 5 metres long), and do rocket arms, and put his whole face in the water when he's blowing bubbles.
I may need valium to cope!
He took to it really well, despite having 2 lessons, with a 45 minute break and a huge stack head first onto concrete in between. He almost fell asleep in the car on the way home, kept bursting into tears when the Rix kids came for lunch (we are now in the same class as Ben & Jenni), and slept like the dead.
Now, these next 2 pics show him doing the trick he learnt with Daddy over the Christmas break- jumping into the Pool. He scrunches right down, then flings himself full bore at me to catch him. More splashes for Mummy!
